What is a voice pitch monitor?
A voice pitch monitor displays the musical notes you sing over time. This free online voice pitch detector shows the nearest note, frequency in Hz, cents sharp or flat, and a twelve-second graph. Use it for feedback while practicing steady notes or simple singing exercises.
How can I find the note I am singing?
Select Start microphone, allow microphone access, and sing one steady note in a quiet space. The vocal pitch monitor displays the nearest musical note, its frequency in Hz, and how many cents sharp or flat you are.
What do sharp, flat, and cents mean?
Sharp means your pitch is above the nearest note; flat means it is below. Cents measure small pitch differences: 100 cents equal one semitone. The monitor shows In tune when the detected pitch is within 5 cents of the nearest note.
Is this online vocal tuner free?
Yes. Coach Illona’s pitch detector is free to use in your browser. You do not need an account, subscription, or app download.
Does the pitch detector record or upload my voice?
No. Microphone audio is analyzed on your device using your browser’s audio tools. The pitch monitor does not record, save, or upload your voice. Select Stop to release the microphone.
Why does my detected pitch jump between notes?
Background music, multiple voices, breathy sounds, and a weak microphone signal can confuse pitch detection. Sing one clear, comfortable note without accompaniment. Readings are estimates, not a professional assessment of your voice.
Can I check my vocal range with this tool?
You can see the notes you sing and shift the graph up or down an octave. The tool does not automatically measure your full vocal range or determine your voice type. Stay within a comfortable range and do not force high or low notes.
Does the pitch monitor work on a phone?
It works in modern mobile and desktop browsers that support microphone access and Web Audio. Use the secure HTTPS website and allow microphone permission. Some in-app browsers may require opening the page in Safari, Chrome, or Edge.
